How We Work

The 13
Framework™

A structured system designed to build brands that scale across markets. Four phases. A defined sequence. No shortcuts between them.

Every engagement begins at Phase I. Not because we follow process for the sake of it — but because the work done in each phase determines the quality of the next.

The Framework

Four phases.
One sequence.

Each phase answers a specific question. Decode: what is the true landscape? Define: who are we and why does it matter? Design: how do we express it? Distribute: where and how do we reach the right people?

Phase I
Decode
+
  • Audience behaviour
  • Industry dynamics
  • Regional patterns
  • Cultural signals

Most engagements fail not in execution but in diagnosis. Decode is where we establish what is actually true about the market, the audience, and the competitive environment — not what the brief assumes to be true.

The output of Phase I is not a report. It is a strategic foundation that makes every subsequent decision more precise.

Phase II
Define
+
  • Positioning clarity
  • Brand identity
  • Strategic direction

Define is where we establish what the brand stands for, who it is for, and why that matters in the markets it competes in.

Positioning clarity is not a tagline. It is the strategic answer to why this brand exists and how that preference compounds over time. Brand identity follows from positioning, not the other way around.

Phase III
Design
+
  • Creative concepts
  • Campaign architecture
  • Content systems

Design is where strategy becomes visible. Every creative decision is accountable to the positioning established in Phase II.

This is where 13 December’s creative strength is deployed. Not in service of aesthetic preference — in service of the strategy.

Phase IV
Distribute
+
  • Intelligent placement
  • Persona mapping
  • Precision targeting

Distribution is the strategic act of placing the right expression in front of the right person at the right moment — and measuring whether it converts.

The KPIs that matter in Phase IV are defined in Phase II. We measure what the client finds profitable — not reach, impressions, or follower growth.

The Feedback Loop

Strategy is not linear.
It compounds.

Performance data feeds back into the strategy. Every campaign generates insight that sharpens the next positioning iteration. The sequence repeats — each time more precise than the last.

01
Strategy
Defines the direction. Determines the KPIs. Sets the standard against which all execution is measured.
02
Creative Translation
Carries strategy into expression. Ensures no creative decision departs from the positioning established in Phase II.
03
Performance Validation
Proves the strategy. Revenue-proximate outcomes feed back into the strategic layer — refining, not replacing, the foundation.
“Performance data is not the end of an engagement. It is the beginning of the next strategic iteration. Every insight earned in Phase IV makes Phase I sharper the next time.
Engagement Principles

How we engage.
What you can expect.

01
Senior attention from start to finish
Every engagement at 13 December is managed by its senior team. Your account will not be handed off after the brief is signed.
02
We question the brief
The brief is a starting point. Before we begin execution, we validate whether it addresses the correct strategic problem. Often, it doesn’t — and that matters.
03
KPIs are set by your business
We will not report on reach, followers, or impressions unless those metrics are directly tied to your revenue. Your profitable outcome defines our success metric.
04
Fewer clients, deeper engagement
We deliberately limit the number of active engagements to ensure every client receives the strategic focus their account demands.
05
Creative conviction, not compliance
We bring a point of view to every creative decision. We are strategic partners who defend the work when it’s right.
06
Transparency over comfort
If the strategy is not working, we say so. If the brief needs to be rewritten, we rewrite it. Honest counsel is worth more than agreeable reporting.
